The country of Sophia is in utter turmoil. General Tozeh lead a coup de tat against Sophia Castle, and is torturing its citizens by replacing all Red Robins with McDonalds. Now nobody will be able to eat a gourmet hamburger again.

Needless to say, some of its citizens decided to lead a revolt. McDonalds may be cheap, but their hamburgers are made out of processed sawdust. Ruka heads off to a faraway village to recruit the help of General Misen, Alm's grandfather. After a hard day of sword practice with his grandfather, Alm meets Ruka and his band at the entrance to the village. Ruka explains the desperate situation and begs Alm to get General Misen to help. However, Alm, being the little sneak that he is, slips a sleeping potion into General Misen's green tea. Alm then heroically offers to join in place of his now sleeping grandfather, so he can take all the credit.

After Alm takes control of the company by virtue of being the biggest and loudest braggart, the team is immediately attacked by Geico insurance salesmen as soon as they set foot outside of the village. Since the team is happy with State Farm, they make quick work of the insurance salesmen, and they even roast the little gecko over a spit. Gecko's really aren't so bad if you add enough oregano and parmesean cheese.

Eventually, Alm and friends make it to the liberation headquaters party being held at Chuck E Cheese's. Unfortunately, the place is overrun with disgruntled Monster In My Pocket toys who never recieved their fair share of royalties. Will Alm and the rest of the liberation army fell those foul monsters and overthrow General Tozeh? Will Clea ever get a new bike? Will Bird achieve his dream of becoming the world's greatest barber? Play the game and find out!

Now for some fun facts about Fire Emblem Gaiden:
- This Fire Emblem plays more like a standard RPG. In other words, you can revisit certain locations to gain as much experience as you like. Also, there are a few instances in which you can walk around towns, castles, and the like and talk to NPCs.
- None of the weapons ever break.
- Using spells costs the caster HP.
- Extra spells are accrued via level ups.
- Monsters were introduced into this game. Outside of dragons, monsters don't appear again until Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.
- It's possible for anyone who falls into the mercenary class or one of its promotions to achieve unlimited level ups. Eventually, the mercenary line will eventually promote to villager, which in turn can promote into one of four classes, one of which is the mercenary.
- On a similar note: promotion branches were not used again until Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.
- Eventually, you will take control of two armies simultaneously: one lead by Alm and one led by Celice.
- There are only five chapters in the game, but each consists of several battles. Again, you'll also eventually lead two armies instead of one, which obviously doubles the length.
